Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Heavenly (lake Tahoe) opens next weekend (16th november 2012) - how many lifts /runs will be open?
They have had some snow so I guess they could open up quite a bit but will they? Does any one have any experience of what will be open ? North star also opens on the 16th so any views on that would be great too.

Heavenly and Northstar open on the 14th.
Heavenly - The Gondola will be open for mountain access and we’ll be operating Tamarack Express for access to skiing and riding. We’ll continue to update you here as new terrain opens. There will even be a few terrain park features available on CA Trail, courtesy of Heavenly Terrain Parks.
Northstar - Northstar California is scheduled to open EARLY for the 2012.2013 winter skiing and riding season on Wednesday, November 14 Friday, November 16 (weather and conditions permitting).

So 18th and 19th nov, should i go to heavenly, north star or squaw ? I'm tempted to add the extra 2 hours and try mammoth or is their enough skiing at tahoe ?

I think there is a storm coming in the next couple of days, I would wait until that comes and goes before deciding. There is a lot of terrain at Tahoe and if the snow is not significantly better down at Mammoth I would say "their is enough skiing at tahoe".
