Where is the best small mountain resort with the best terrain in the Alps?

We've had one of these threads before. I might even have started it. It descended into everyone with a vested interest mentioning their pet resorts, with the only requirement seeming to be 'smaller and less well known than the top 3 largest and best known'.

Resort X was played out about 10 years ago, all the hipsters are now onto Resort Z.

La Grave is hardly "unknown", surely.
Not big amongst piste skiers as there are no pistes, but very well known amongst anyone remotely interested in off piste, and probably a great many people who aren't.

People know of it, sure. And lots of people talk about it. Not many ski there (compared to resorts that are not "unknown").

Another vote for Resort Z
Resort A in the next valley over is pretty good too if you don't mind button lifts

Totally agree with Engelberg and Andermatt. Val d'anniviers is also pretty good. What surprised me last season was Montgenevre. Awesome powder possibilities with just a little hiking needed.

Yeah, they are. Totally. And if you live in the area they are hardly unknown either. But when someone asks here for info on "unknown" I kind if interpret that to mean ones that Brits don't go to much. When I skied in Eberg I didn't meet any other Brits, just Scandies, Swiss and a lot of French folks.

Yes, but this thread is about "unknown" resorts, i.e., not places that are very famous.
If you decide to define "unknown" as places that lots of people know about but few ski then that's basically anywhere not in Europe for most Brit skiers... And is a radical redefinition of the word "unknown"...

I do not know if it counts as unknown, but Sainte Foy has short queues and great terrain.

Ste Foy is reasonably well known on here, but IME poorly known elsewhere (mainly by my real life skiing friends, which I do have - honest )

Sefaus, Fiss and Ladis - miles of good terrain, but barely touched by the Brits unless you self-drive.

Had a damn good day at the Zwolferhorn. Small mountain, everything classed as 'ski routes' so they don't have to piste it. Only skied the marked routes, tbh have no idea how much (if any) more potential there is, but a lot of fun.

Distinct lack of UK tour ops going to Laax. Huge terrain, something for everyone and yet the UK ski market hasn't found it
