Poster: A snowHead

And here we have today's dumb question.....
The down in my favoured pair of gloves has become rather flattened over the years (I've has them 15 years), does anyone know of a way to fluff it up again? I have thought of simply throwing them in the washing machine but don't think that the leather outer would take too kindly to the treatment although it does look virtually new and isn't cracked.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I was waiting for someone to say that but apart from the down being a little flat they are just about perfect in every other respect plus I already have another pair of gloves, although nowhere near as good quality, and a set of mitts for the really cold days.

Posidrive, Try a tumble dryer on cold/warm with a few tennis balls - it's a long shot...

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Posidrive, I throw my mitts and gloves in washing machine. I apply leather conditioner to the wet leather and then it all goes in the dryer. A bit more leather conditioner once they're fully dry and the gloves are fine.

Down doesn't last forever. 15 years is a pretty good run. If you really like the gloves that much and they're irreplaceable, you might be able to obtain some loose down and do a transplant, but given the time and cost involved it is probably more economical to just buy a new pair.

I'd try the suggestions from under a new name and Zero-G then if that doesn't work, try Cynic's,

Seriously though, 15 years is a long time, I'm sure you have had more than your monies worth out of them... Treat yourself to a new pair or stick them on your Christmas list for Santa
