Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Night out in Morzine, when staying in Avoriaz.

Have just booked a week skiing with the lads for Feb, is it easy to do a night of Morzine nightlife and get a late local taxi back up to Avoriaz? Are taxis in Morzine readily available, are there any limitations as to the latest time a taxi would take us back up to Avoriaz.

Is it worth doing this one night to mix things up a bit?

thanks

avalon42, you will use to, as there is practically no night life in Avoriaz.

Depends what you mean by nightlife. There's certainly more going on in Morzine but I was quite happy with a few pints in the pubs in Avoriaz. Maybe I'm getting old ! Smile

under a new name, that's another question entirely. I dont know what Avoriaz nightlife is like (Morzine isn't exactly brilliant, tbh) like so can't advise.

We're not expecting 'epic' nightlife, but some lively bars would be good. I've had a couple of people tell me the night life in Avoriaz is alright, fairly lively, I'm sure it'll be ok?!

In regards to venturing out to Morzine one night the question is is it easy to get a taxi gone 12 from Morzine back up to Avoriaz, or would we need to book one in advance?

Does anyone have any local taxi numbers, on googling I've only found 'taxi No. 9' Morzine but their website mentions more airport transfers than local runs.

Prebook with Nash Cabs (Bar National in St Jean- their website will tell you all you need to know) there is another one too that I can't remember- try run til 2am if pre-booked
Mr NN says the other one is Mountain Cabs but I don't think that's right

We got a taxi last year, a spanking new range rover, so you can have a guess at the prices charged!!

avalon42, Always seemed to be plenty Taxis in the main sq when we were there few years back, but it is a long trip to Avoriaz so I doubt you will do it more than once. If you need a large one (van) then you would be better booking.

avalon42, I would not be at all comfortable not having a guaranteed journey home. Could make for a very uncomfortable night!

"ONCE IN RESORT: After booking with us you will be given Jo's phone number in resort so you can confirm the return trip time and let us know if there are any changes. We are available throughout the week and in the evenings if you need a taxi ride home from the ski lifts or if you fancy a night out just out of town. If we cannot do the run we can always find a colleague to help you out."

I got it from the Transfers section of the winter brochure:

Any use?

Is it really a 40 minute drive? I've never done it, always got the bus to Prodains and then the cable car. I've crossed the road on chairlfts but actually i have no idea which road to take out of Morzine to get to Avoriaz.

That's going to be pricey in a cab, and avalon42, there are lots of bars and restaurants in Avoriaz, I think you'll find it lively enough.

avalon42, Still unconvinced why you'd want the bother. Avoriaz kept my chalet staff quite naughty enough for a season.
