... I'd like to get one to compliment my Ski Qualifications.
Obviously for working in the mountains.
Can anyone recommend any...as close to Bristol as possible would be good.
I did have a list of courses...but i've somehow lost it

St John's Ambulance 4-day course (or 2-day refresher) is as good as any. They have training centres all over the country. It's general first aid so not mountain specific but covers pretty much everything.

Another vote for the BASP courses if you're doing anything outdoor related (like skiing!!)

I've never done a first aid course. Canada doesn't request one. Most in Europe do though. What suprised me even more, was that some Canadian Ski schools don't request a CBR checks either 
Had to do that this year though.
