Poster: A snowHead
|
Hi
I've just bought some new Salomon Equipe 3V Race Poweraxe SL skis and S914 FIS bindings. Unfortunately they came separately, so not attached and to complicate matters the skis have the Poweraxe plate.
Does anyone know how they should be attached? It looks like it’s just a matter of screwing them on, but the real question is where? As far forward/back as possible? In the middle? A little bit off centre? I just don't know and can't find any resource on the net to help.
I was thinking of taking them to Snow & Rock or Ellis Brigham and asking them to do it for me, but any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Dom.

dominic_brandreth, welcome to snowheads, do not attempt to attach the bindings to the skis without the manufacturer's jigs. Go to any reasonable ski shop expectto pay about £25.00 which is cheaper than having to buy new skis.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

If you're not sure what you're doing I would recommend that you take them to a ski shop. They'll charge you £20 or so, but I think this is a small price to pay for ensuring you don't mess up you new skis, or worse, mess up your knees from incorrectly set up bindings.

dominic_brandreth,
Also, if you don't get them fitted by an approved Salomon dealer you will invalidate the warranty.

Depends where you bought them also. I bought some new skis from S&R mail order which turned up in seperate boxes but just had to take them to one of their shops, along with the receipt, for them to set them up free.

All
Thanks for the advice - I took them to S&R to be fitted. They charged £25 for the pleasure, but better that than losing a ski mid-carve and killing myself, or worse: damaging the skis.
Cheers,
Dom.
