Hello everyone!
What brands are known for producing high-quality helmets? I've done quite some research and noticed some manufacturers make great looking helmets but don't seem to have good (if any) testing capabilities. Some of the brands I found:
Smith
Bolle
Oakley (seem to be new to the helmet space)
POC
CP
Giro
Scott
Salomon
Slokker sports
I am new to the sport and trying to put my head in the right hands!

I don't think manufacturers are allowed to test their products to an agreed standard themselves, however,i maybe utterly wrong there.
A notable one you have missed is Sweet Protection, whose helmets are well respected in freeskiing and racing.
Provided the fit is good , any that meets the protective standard and fits with your goggles should be adequate.

They are all different, especially once you throw goggles into the mix - or kick off a visor v goggles argument!

@Mohammed, As mentioned above, the most important is one that fits. It is a piece of safety equipment first and foremost, and a fashion item second.
All of the helmet manufacturers have to comply with the relevant regulations for the market they are being sold into, so they will all meet the minimum safety requirements. Some have good reputations for exceeding those standards, such as POC and Sweet Protection.
When you try on helmets, after you have found one the right size, make adjustments to any retention or fit devices, but don't do up the chin strap. Then bend down as if to touch your toes and try and shake the helmet off. If it falls off its the wrong helmet for you, so try a different one. The chin strap is only there to hold the helmet on your head after the first (and subsequent) impacts, it is not there to keep it on your head under normal use. You can also try a final test, which after all adjustments have been made, and the strap fully done up, try and pull the helmet off, it should be impossible, if it can be pulled off, try a different helmet.
Also the chin strap should be done up tight enough, so that you can only get one or two fingures under the strap when it is tightened.

That was exactly what am after, a manufacturer with a good reputation for exceeding standards.

You might want to look out for helmets with MIPS (POC call it Spin) technology. It allows the outer shell of the helmet to rotate against the inner liner in the event of an oblique hit and reducing the amount of rotation transferred through the helmet.

@Mohammed, if you are new to the sport (which one? Skiing or boarding?) you’ll have missed the fun fest great annual Snowheads “should I wear a helmet or not?” debate.
Anything that meets standards, and fits your head properly will do, goggle fit comes next and aesthetics last.

As above, this is one of those that you can't do online. Take your goggles into a store with a big range and try them all on. You'll easily tell which work for you then it's about budget and compatibility with goggles. Oh and colour of course, red is fastest
