Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

A few quick turns

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
It's getting late in September and I hadn't skied yet, unlike others who find alternative ways to scratch the itch, I ski, minimum once a month.
Since the end of summer we've had a few storms, nothing massive, but enough together to fill in the worst of the holes on the glacier.
I'm still suffering from braking a rib 6 weeks back, so just a few quick turns to tick the box and scratch the itch, but there is a little more to it, than hike up ski down go home.

The ready room.

An uneventful stroll and a few quick turns on nice but not stellar snow brings me to

The Grand Jorasse behind, with the Grand Combin further back and the Matterhorn in the distance.

Time to skin

Why do a few short turns inevitably entail a long skin? Glad I wasn't boot paking to get home.

Tracks down and track up, having to rest quite a bit now.

Obligatory product shot - time to swap skins for crampons and take it slower.

Back to the ice cave and I need a rest - my chest is not happy, but the itch is scratched Wink

Very smooth.

Those ski poles with the ice picks, I have seen them before but I was I bit worried about the consequences of falling with them while skiing and landing on one!

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Never really been an issue if you use the wrist straps correctly - not recommended for tree skiing though. Only had one issue, carving hard I caught one in some hard snow, with my inside hand and it sent me tumbling - good for keeping unruly tourists in order in a crowded lift Wink

Idris, Fantastic TR, as always, even if the snow in Sept meant it was as short one.

My itch defintitely needs scratching, and in three weeks I'll be there, scratching like mad Smile

Next time you need to scratch your itch in September, give me a call and I'll see what EasyJet's finest can offer and join you!

Indeed it is, but The Snow Queen is an infrequent visitor around these parts Sad

Got everything crossed for October and November turns before heading to Hokkaido in mid-November, after we beat Argentina in Cardiff. Got everything crossed for that too!

Some Chamtalian turns wouldn't go amiss though.

Looking forward to more from your neck of the woods Smile
