Poster: A snowHead
|
Hi. Just out of interest and curiosity I’m interested to see if anyone has any old photo’s/ski maps/info of some Austrian resorts just to see how they’ve changed and developed over the years. Particularly interested in photo’s/ski maps of St Anton, Lech-Zurs, Kaprun, Tauplitzalm, Hintertux as these resorts I know well, but anything interesting for any resort would be cool.
Oh and some cheesy 70’s and 80’s photos would definitely be a good laugh! The cheesier the better!

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

skilehrer89, Presumably you're familiar with the classic 1931 ski movie "Der Weisse Rausch" with Hannes Schneider filmed around Stuben and St Anton?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Yes I am, I’m looking more for pictures of the village, lifts etc and for some slightly more modern photos e.g. 50’s-90’s. More interested in this particular case as to how the above resorts have developed as opposed to how skiing has developed.

Which incidentally features the Mooserwirt (which certainly has changed)

skilehrer89, A visit to the Museum in St Anton is always a great idea when the weather is really stormy and the lifts are in lock down, kills an hour before the bars open - plenty of nostalgia stuff in there, also Tourist Office has some good stuff too

skilehrer89, On the subject of Austrian ski nostalgia, are you familiar with the works of the Austrian artist Alfons Walde? Quote: "Alfons Walde (8 February 1891 - 11 December 1958), an Austrian from Kitzbühel in Tyrol, was the first artist to successfully bring skiing as a subject into painting."
Several of his paintings can be seen in the Kitzbuhel Museum, and one of the (short) pistes at Kitzbuhel is named the "Walde" in his honour.
