Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Could anyone please recommend a good ski shop and a boot fitter in Les Arcs?
We are going there for two weeks in Jan and seriously consider investing in boots this time.
This will be our second season, if that matters. We did a week in La Plagne and are both pretty confident on blue runs.
thanks for help

In many respects it depends what you mean by "good". Does a good ski shop have a massive range of skis for sale, low prices or good advice? In the higher resorts themselves many of the shops are chains with seasonaires serving you. If you have very unusual feet it may be difficult get boots fitted. But of course the big advantage of buying in the resort is that you can take them back to be adjusted at any time.
Anyway my reccomendations would be the large Intersport by the Super U in Bourg st Maurice, which beacause it is the town tends to have more stable and experienced staff. Get the funicular down late one afternoon; last season the shop and funicular closed about 20:00 so you have plenty of time to try different boots on. I buy lots of clothing and climbing equipment there and have always been totally satisfied. If you need more specific reccomendations for Arc 1600 I could give them to you but I do not know the other villages well.
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Not in Les Arcs but in Bourg St Maurice I'd recommend "Revolver Boots and Bikes", which is located between the Super U and Intersport (on the road which runs between the two, next door to a florist I think). However, this would only work if you can get down to Bourg without too much hassle.
