Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hello again, another summer rained off. Ah well, it's all precip. Bring on the good bit!

But I recall I never actually got round to doing anything about the divots the Rocky Mts kindly put in my bases Embarassed

They're not particularly brutal, one or two are coreshots, but tiny, mostly long straight grooves (maybe I should turn more?) with the odd deep raggedy patch which might go through, so it's only really the raggedy bits I'm worried about. I've got the basic kit off Jon* but no base cleaner. Is it actually worth stripping all the wax in the area off before ptexing small dings or is it going to hold if I just tidy it up with a razor blade and drop it in there?

*which basically left me with the nicest, smoothest, most responsive tune I've ever had. £99 very well spent. If you're thinking about DIYing it, get this from Jon's Ski Tuning, an iron, read his online guide and hit it. You will NEVER let a shop near your edges again. You will also develop an unaccountable urge to buy more diamond stones.

If the base has a hole in then I'd say there is no wax to remove... it came off with the missing bit of base...

For small holes I just fill the hole with repair candle or p-tex and then scrape it flat.

For larger holes and core shots I have recently bought a Base Doc II and some metal grip (from Jon) Toofy Grin

I use base cleaner to remove any wax so repairs stick, but ptex does not stick well to core material or edges, so needs metal grip that you put on first, then the ptex.

I am sure jon will be along to give some advice
