Poster: A snowHead

Ryanair practically gives you money to fly to Lyon...(out Sat early morning, on the slopes midday, return Monday 10 am at Stansted so not missing much work time at all).
Anyone wants to join me? Would likely head to LDA or Alpe D'Huez, since they've got the most snow, but willing to listen to suggestions.
Alternative: Milan flight and 160km to Alagna / Madonna di Campiglio etc, slightly more expensive but rtn late Sunday evening so no work missed.
I've done these season openers before and they were great fun, but the chap I usually went with is away.
Come on, you know you want to!

hi Cedric, sounds great fun and something I want to do in late Jan via the same route. May I ask where you stay, is it easy to get B&B or Hotels for such a short period? Any recommendations? Thanks

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Sounds interesting Cedric, what flight are you looking at for the Sat AM though? I see one out at 1005 costing £90 and a 1535 costing 1p but nothing that would get you on the slopes by midday.

FenlandSkier, Ryanair Stansted - St Etienne (Lyon) Sat 17 Dec out 7.30 am, there 10.05 am, rtn Mon 19 Dec 10-30am - landing 11.05 am.
Both 1p plus taxes, total about £27.
lisach, at this time of the year it's very easy to get something, nothing is fully booked. Usually we got a 2* hotel (that worked in Cervinia, Alpe d'Huez and Les Deux Alpes, the last of which we found after driving into the resort and asking around...well, actually asking easiski).
I'm thinking of doing this again once or twice at least during the season, to top up my regular ski trips.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Cedric, ok thanks. I assume that you hire a car, or do the bus/train connections at St Etienne offer better onward options than Grenoble - which seems to be harder to get 'away' from unless you hire a car. Hope that makes some sense!

Car hiring is best to make the most out of the weekend...split into two it's not that expensive.

Alternative: flying with Easyjet, pricier but gets to Lyon at 9am and returns Sunday 10pm for £77...actually I think I'm getting the ticket today, car will only cost £62...
still no one?

Cedric, Ahh, I was looking at Grenoble (Lyon) instead.
Can't make that weekend unfortunately, got another family do to go to but I may well be interested later on during the season.

Thanks, let's keep in contact, I have few vacation days available after counting ski trips already booked, but I'm almost always up for a Fri night/Sat morning - Sunday night.
By the way, I pulled the trigger, going with Hayduke from you know where, some friends of mine might join, too.
