Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Jet Stream This Far South In Winter

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Can you imagine the chaos we would be in, if this current weather pattern was to happen in the winter? Imagine the Jet stream sitting over Southern france, allowing all of this unsetled weather and a cold Arctic Blast to hit the UK. Am i right in thinking we would be under several metres of snow and that the country would have ground to a halt?

Ricklovesthepowder, apart from the fact that it's only a few cm's of snow that's required to bring the UK to a grinding halt, beyond that it sounds about right

Ricklovesthepowder, this is a dream situation ... trouble is ... this is now, and winter is then... last time we had this kind of summer pattern in the UK, we had torrential rain in southern switzerland in august, then in december we had a foehn, with zero snow, and then snow which was covered in african orange dust, blown up from the sahara. I'm going to bury some black cats and get the rain gods to keep the current weather going until next easter.....

valais2,

I'm glad you said this, as I have been secretly worrying that all this rain will 'use up' the available precipitation prior to the opening of European ski season.

I have a plan though, so relax. Specifically, I propose to collect as much of the current unseasonable rainfall as possible, bottle it and then release it back into the wild* in a phased manner between December 12 and March 13, so it can evaporate and subsequently fall as snow. There are plenty of SnowHeads, so if we all take the same simple practical steps together, we should be able to use this rain to ensure a great season ahead.

chemistry

*One thing I haven't yet figured out is whether, as with rare birds reared as chicks and then set free to breed, I need to teach the water what to do to in order to survive in the wild, i.e. fly up into the sky and join with it's own kind to then descend in a coordinated fashion as a 'dump' of snow (ideally over Les Arcs/La Plagne in early February), rather than simply dribble down into groundwater or fall as rain again. I expect therefore to pop the bottles in the freezer and then chuck them up and down in the garden a few times before melting and 'release', so the individual molecules get the idea of the whole freeze/fall/settle concept.
