backhojo, there is an underground car park right next to the Pleney lift. I would imagine you have to be in there quite early but you may have to be early in any case for lessons. Not sure what the charges are. We have only occasionally used that car park in the summer, to keep the car cool, when its been free.
The roads around the lift always seem pretty crowded if we drive through.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

No problem at all - one under Pleney and one under Office du Tourisme - we never had a problem parking, even in holiday season last year - you'll be fine. Costs about 9euro a day I think

We stayed in Montriond the last couple of 1/2 terms. Have you considered the drive up to Les Gets? About 12 minutes (max) from Montriond? If you are on early lessons, there's enough free parking at around 8:30am about 5 mins walk from the main lifts up to Chavannes. A couple of the hire shops (Intersport etc) are right by the lifts and you can leave your gear there overnight.
Les Gets has always seemed a bit more civilised than Morzine(particularly at 1/2 term) if you have to drive...

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Or you could book lessons in Avoriaz. Bubble up from Montriond and then the chair to the ridge above Avoriaz. The green piste takes you straight to the ski school meeting points.

Or you could just get the bus?

bus is not ideal as it stops miles away from ski school meeting point. you have to walk over the long footbridge to the super morzine lift where you get the petit train across town to the plenney lift to meet the ski school. this will take ages and mean leaving the chalet very early. walking across town is hard work as its a long way and will have a 6yr old and 9 yr lold in tow.
in the end we have found a really nice chalet, at a sensible price in morzine . its about a 70m walk to the piste then a ski down to the plenney lift ! perfect !,
thanks for all your help though !
