Has anyone recently stayed here ? I need info. on accommodation (twins or continental twins) and suitability for group of older skiers.

Stayed there over Christmas, had a great time. The food was excellent if, and the staff really worked hard to make sure everyone had a good time. I couldn't fault the quality of the food, the only small criticism was that due to British staff none of the food was very Italian, so make the most at lunchtimes and the staffs night off if you like to eat local food when on holiday.
The Dragon is really a pub with rooms above it and a small dining room. They cordon off an area of the pub for hotel guests, it can get noisy, but no noisier than any other pub. You can't really hear the pub noise from the rooms, but you do hear groups walking up and down the streets. Bear in mind that the bit between Christmas and New Year is one of the busiest weeks in Cervinia - so it might be quieter when you plan to go. Our room was a triple room, we had a continental twin and a single bed, not sure on the other rooms. Rooms are clean, we're not too picky, but I suppose they could be classed as a little tatty (suitable for what we need though!).
Ski store is in the basement (keep your boots in your room), there's a lift to get up and down, but with only 2 floors above the ground floor nowhere is too far.
Situation wise it doesn't get much better. About 50m walk to the Cretaz lifts, but you can ski back to within 10 metres of the hotel door - only a stream and a tarmac road stop you from skiing to the door. If you are hiring skis the shop is about a 50 metre walk too, the main shopping street was at the back of the hotel, everything was just really convenient.
The hotel just really had families with children staying when we were there, but I can't think of anything that would put a group of older skiers off.

Im looking at it as a possible place for next year.
Also hammer, how big was the triple room. As I was looking at the triple for 3 large 23/24 year old blokes!

I wouldn't say the triple room was huge, but it was perfectly manageable for us. If you're anything like me when I went away with the lads and shared pokey rooms we'd usually take it in turns to go up to the room and shower, get changed etc... while the others stayed in the bar - the only time we spent time in the room together was usually when asleep.
I'd say it would be fine. Added bonus for a group of lads is the bar/club downstairs and the Yeti bar a couple of doors down.
