Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Check this out - ski resorts lobbying for public holiday dates

Quote:
The BC provincial government is holding a vote to select which day will be BC Family Day, either the 2nd Monday or 3rd Monday in February 2013. Having BC Family Day on the 2nd Monday would allow more British Columbians to enjoy a vacation with fewer crowds. The 3rd Monday in February ties into Presidents Day long weekend in the USA, as well as 5 other provinces' Family Days (including Alberta, Saskatchewan and Ontario). As such, many popular tourism destinations and travel routes are very busy with out-of-province visitors. We believe the 2nd Monday offers a greater opportunity for British Columbians to enjoy their own province.

We ask for you to voice your support and vote for the 2nd Monday in February and encourage your friends and family to do the same.

Dave Brownlie

President & Chief Operating Officer
Whistler Blackcomb

Nothing to do with vested interest in ensuring you have more peak weekends and weeks in the season Dave?

Fair play to them. Here in Spain, in their wisdom, they introduced relatively new public holidays on the 6th and 8th of December, creating a "megapuente" in which all the ski resorts are desperate to attract multi-day or week-long visitors, despite the fact that historically there isn't much action until Xmas. It almost bankrupted various resorts this (rather bad) season because they've come to depend on it, yet ironically most resorts shut in April despite there often remaining much more snow at that time than when they started. (Lack of resources/balls.) By contrast, there are no other holidays between 6th Jan and Easter. The choice of public holiday dates - 2 at the beginning of December, seriously? - did the industry no good whatsoever...
