I'm looking for an "all terrain, all mountain" type ski that performs well on piste as we as off piste, is stable at speed and at all radius turns. Does it exist?
All the reviews that I have read and swaying towards the K2 Apache Recon (and Crossfire to an extent) and the Rossignol Bandit B2.
Any advice and/or commets please?

Filarinskis currently have an "Early Bird" offer on new skis which is, I think, 10% off RRP. I don't know when the offer ends.

I've got the last model B2s, not tried the new ones yet. I really like my B2s, and most tests rate them quite highly, but one thing that I definitely would not say that they are is stable at speed. Skittish probably best describes them, and they do take a bit of getting used to. Perhaps the new model is different.
I tried the Apache Recon last year, didn't rate it that much, but they're meant to be excellent.

B2's or Stöckli Stormrider XL's, the B2's are an easier ski while the XL's demand a little more. The XL's will handle better on ice or hardpack and at speed. The B2's for this year should stiffer and fix that though. Both the XL and B2 have slight revisions this season but only slight, both are excellent skis and just don't need much alteration.

The XL is the nearest I have found. They say the Metron b5 does all that as well.

Hornster, i am looking into buying myself a pair of B2's this season.
I have tried the K2 Apache Recons and thought they were okay (this is at Xscape in Castleford though), but they are getting the new B2's in soon and will have demos for you to try.
And If you are a member of the SCGB you get a 10% voucher off at Ellis Brigham among others. So that might be worth a look.
Plus I've heard that the new B2's are a lot better for speed merchants as they are a little stiffer and have a 'shark thing' in the tip to help prevent vibration and twisting?? It's getting too technical for me.

Do you know if the B2's (2006 version) are more forgiving on technique than the Recons's?

Built at Mont-Blanc? Don't fancy the trip to work! Surely a logistical nightmare getting materials up there. Built in Sallanches, a town off the motorway before the viaduct into Chamonix.
Ski bum? Work a minimum of 60hrs a week, but love it.
