Hi
i am about 5 ft 8 and 77kg and looking for a pair of all mountain ski's, but am unsure what length to go for, would i be able to get away with a pair of 168cm or do people think that will be a little short, planning to ski about 60% off piste and 40% on.
thanks in Advance

5cm shorter than you is a good guide, I am 182cm and have 177cm all mountain rocker, you can go plus or minus 10cm on a rocker, depending on ski type
3 of us have all mountain rockers and all 3 have a ski 3-5cm shorter than our height

I'm 180 and have 177's and they seem plently long enough off piste, and that fits with what Timbobaggins suggests.
So 168 or longer should be ok for you.

Longer for sure! 168 is slalom ski length! For all mountain you want 170-180, add length for twintip or rocker.
At 5 ft 9 and 74kg, I split most of my time between 190s (fat/rockered though) and 176 (midfat twins). The 190s are perfect, albeit most of the time they're offpiste. I wish the midfats were 180-182ish.
At the end of the day a few centimetres extra length makes little difference to the size of the space you need to turn them, but adds a lot of stability and float.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

I'm 5'8", 59 kg and my skis for strictly on piste skiing are from 160 (short, slalom type turns) to 174 cm.

Depends a bit on the actual ski model, but I'd suggest 168 is too short for a true all-rounder. It might be okay on piste, but I think you'd want something longer for most off-piste/deeper snow conditions. My wife is 5'5" 57kg and skis 166 powder skis 163 all-mountain and 158 pure piste carvers. You need something at least 175 in the all-mountain category. Another factor is that you might well find the shorter skis too soft as they will be likely tuned for lighter skiers.

yeah you'll want longer than 175, I ski park and I'm exactly the same as you and I'd go for a 181

I'm 5'8" and about 80Kg. I'm skiing on 183 long Movement Jam, and find them about perfect for all-moutain skiing.

I'm a bare 5ft tall (152cm), weigh 55kg and want a pair of ladies all mountain skies. I reckon I need about 147cm length.
The all mountain skies all seem to be too long for my height. Any one any idea which skies would be best for me. I'm an adventurous intermediate who would love to take skiing to the next level.

I need to size some new skis for head office and the children.
Surely in this day and age of the interweb, there must be a reliable chart page somewhere online??

There are many (google will help), but as ability, ambition, terrain skied and personal preferences vary so much, they're not necessarily that useful.
