Poster: A snowHead

I want to give Skiwelt a try. From what I have read, it is really nice. Has anyone been there recently and can comment on the conditions.
I will be going there with a friend and we WON'T have a car. Can someone recommend the best village to stay in given that? My impression is that the area is well linked by lifts, gondolas and buses so I assume we should be golden wants there.

Not sure what conditions are like currently, but stay in Westendorf if you can.

amps, personally I would go for Soll or Westendorf. The latter has the best skiing and gives you easier access over to the Kitzbuhel area too. Soll for the night skiing if that floats your boat.
Spent a couple of days in Westendorf earlier this week - great cover everywhere and virtually had the place to ourselves.

Thanks folks. Yes joe1978. Do let me know what you think.
My impression is that it is generally good there, but there are a couple of snowhead forums which talked about bad snow. but I think it was an unseasonably warm march a few years back.
I am planning on going early march, and i think they should have good snow then.
I am going for 3 days with a friend. we are both intermediate skiers. My impression is that we will have plenty to ski on, no?
ok. Two votes for Westendorf. I was thinking of staying in Ellmau (people say it's a nice town), but i will give Westendorf a try.

often by people who (a) think altitude is the only factor (b) probably haven't been there and (c) were busy picking their noses during geography at school. That area really has snowmaking and snow management taped, more so than anywhere I've been to. By March the base will have built up even more.

For some reason, it's always expensive to fly to anywhere near austria from london, but I realize I am being a cheap ass. London to geneva is always cheap. Must be volume or something. I may switch to a geneva resort. Anyone have experience at les carroz? I have been to chamonix, which I thought was great, but I wanted to try something new.
Can anyone compare les carroz and skiwelt?

amps, Munich? Never find it pricey, almost never weather-affected. The transfer is piece of cake from there too. Jump on the S Bahn from the airport terminal to the Ostbahnhof (30 mins ish) and then grab the fast train to Kufstein (about an hour 10). From there it's taxi or your hotel will probably pick you up.

Deffo try the night skiing in Soll if you can. I know it's a few extra quid, but it really is sensational. The slopes are practically empty - it's an awesome feeling. There's only a few slopes open, but enough for a few hours - you won't regret it.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

amps fly to Munich, much cheaper, check out trains if you don't want to hire a car. Worth a look. We are off to Obertauern, flying into Munich. Got car hire for 4, two nights in a decent Munich hotel, for the price of the difference in cost of flights and a transfer from Salzburg airport. This allows two additional days skiing on both Saturdays as we are flying out Friday pm, and home Sunday pm.

Conditions in SOll are amazing right now- take a look at my gallery in the snowMedia zone if you like, or on the Soll thread, as Scarletgirl said

Only the language is different. Oh and SkiWelt doesn't have Flaine sitting on it's shoulder like a grotesque boil.
Westendorf is my preferred SW village but I've also stayed many times in Scheffau and Ellmau.

isn't flaine a good place to ski?
thanks for the responses people.
family commitments (doh!) may force me to go mid-March. Are snow conditions reliable in either skiwelt or les carroz? i would think snow is bad then.
