Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

DIY fixing of ContourHD to helmet/goggle strap

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Being the unprepared fool that I am, I haven't set aside enough time to locate the various mounts for my ContourHD in advance of setting off in the morning. Aside from copious amounts of tape, anyone have any bright ideas as to how to attach my ContourHD to a goggle strap or helmet?

Astraeus, Use cycle inner tubes to knot around it. Or failing that, get two of the stick on mounts from ebay.(country you are visiting) for £16 on the net and put your address as the place you are staying. Should be there in a couple of days.

Scrap the goggle strap mount idea altogether as the amount of vibration has tangible effect on the end result. Instead use one of the static mounts that should have come with the camera and mount it directly to the helmet

andyman is right, there's no point in goggle mounting the countour cams, as soon as you build up any speed on anything but a perfectly smooth piste the weight of the camera causes it to bounce up and down a fair bit.

Copious use of cable ties, or velcro is surprisingly good, though if you use velcro make sure the weight of the cam is supported or it'll gradually droop down...

Thanks for the suggestions folks. In the end I managed to beg, borrow and steal the connections to stick it to the helmet and the footage is remarkably more stable as a result. The goggle strap is now as good as consigned to the scrap heap - helmet-mount all the way.
