Help!!
Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

A snowHead
Hi all,
we're looking at a week in Montalbert next Christmas, but I'm a bit concerned about the low altitude.
If there's no snow that low, is it still possible to get up to (and down from!) the higher La Plagne villages?
Also, can non-skiers get to any of the other villages via lifts? Doesn't look like it from the piste map.
thanks
mark

, I've skied Montalbert every Christmas for the last 6 years and there has never been a problem with snow cover. There are snow makers virtually all the way to the village on two different pistes.
For non-skiers there are no lift connections to Plagne. ifirc the tourist office runs one trip a week to Plagne by coach.
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

sounds encouraging thanks.
we'll have a car anyway, so no big deal with the non-skiers. lift connection would have been a 'nice to have'.
cheers

, Be aware that to get to La Plagne by car means driving back down almost to Aime (about 10 mins) and then back up to La Plagne. (about 20 mins on a clear road) If the roads aren't clear a whole lot longer with chains on after a fresh snowfall, but then you would be skiing wouldn't you
Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Hi
gybemark
,
You'll have no worries in Montalbert at Christmas and as
boredsurfin
says there are cannons all the way down to Montalbert so even if the snow isn't the best, you'll be able to ski in and out. Worst case scenario they can "download" on the chairlifts but you won't need to do it. . .
Happy planning . . .
