Poster: A snowHead

The nearer to Valloire the better, I've looked on the map and 'Saint Michel de Maurienne' seems to be the last big(?) town we go through before leaving the A43 to Valloire.
Just wanting to stock up on a weeks' worth of food/drink for self-catering. There is a small Carrefour in the resort but after a bit more choice, not sure if would be cheaper too?
Thanks in advance!
Joe

There are at least two big supermarkets in St Jean de Maurienne.
Right in the middle is a Hyper Casino with free underground parking. There are others including, I think, a big Intermarche.
Why not use Goggle maps? Just search for the town you want and then change the search box to 'supermarket'.

TangoFiver,
There are several supermarkets in the valley and are easily found if you use the route nationale that runs parallel to the motorway.
If you are travelling from the airport in Chambery you could pull into the centre commercial a few kilometres down the road, they have a massive Carrefour hypermarket with plenty of parking.

Well, there is indeed Chamnor (a bit outside Chambery) and the one mentioned in St Jean (de Maurienne). However, as you mentioned the nearer to Valloire the better, I would recommend the one right opposite the (very good) boulangerie in St Mich' (el de Maurienne) which is also located 50 meters before you make a right up to the Telegraphe.
Otherwise, if you can (and want), you may peruse the supermarkets at the carrefour de la madelaine (exit St Avre-la Chambre/St Etienne de Cuines) when you're on the motorway from Chambery. You can see them if you drive the Nationale road which passes through Aiton/Pont Royal/Aiguebelle/Epierre... etc...

TangoFiver,
There is one that is fine in St Michel, just before you turn up the hill to Valloire and on the road you need. It's easier than coming off the motorway to go to the ones in St Jean. There is also a good bakery just before the supermarket on the right.

Ah this is sounding better...
...I can see a 'Champion' place on Google Streetview, doesn't appear to be opposite a bakery but think it is just before we turn right to Valloire
Many thanks!

Ah, just gone a bit further down the street and can see a bakery - "Le Vieux Four" - it's opposite what appears to be a hardware store? Unless it's changed since then?
