Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

hammy1846at4, bit tight that really, you would have more luck getting a cheap tour op deal but that would be for a week. Can't you do a week?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Hi thanks for the reply, I thought I would get comments like this, but I think, know it is doable, went away over new year as group of 5 and paid £450 for a whole week for the whole works including food, I do have my own gear, we went to chamrousse

hammy1846at4, OK first check that your dates don't correspond with any school holidays, then find some cheap flights to a major gateway like Geneva or Innsbruck. Then post on Chalets Direct to get 3 nights accomm. That's a start.

But when you say you know it is doable, your example was for 5 people to Chamrousse for a week. That's my point, a week is cheaper than an odd duration. You will have had a TO deal with a free/inclusive lift pass with 5 people in a french apartment.

3 nights DIY totally different ball game.

Flights and transfers cost the same whether for a week or 3 days and getting them including ski carriage for under £150 will be tricky. After that, good luck with finding accommodation and a lift pass for £100-£150.

sarah is absolutely right, if it's a busy week the hotels will prefer to let rooms for a whole week rather than a few days, but if it's a quieter week you may be in luck. Try booking.com or something. Or try a specialist TO that deals with short breaks. Good luck!

£100 return to Geneva with SWISS to get free ski carriage
£50 a night cheapest catered chalet - you cant beat that even eating out - ;robably more like £80/night
£45 a day lift pass
4 days car hire £150 o r £80 retrun transfers to somewhere close
£100 spending money min
£75 getting to/from LHR /LGW

i dont think i've ever beaten that - best bet is to go by coach with SkiWeekends to the 3 valleys and then you might get something cheaper

£45 a day lift pass

There are loads of places (including Chamrousse, cited by the OP) where a day lift pass costs a whole heap less than £45.

And why would you need £33 a day spending money when you've already paid for lift pass and a catered chalet!

I agree the OP's budget is tight for a short break, which costs far more per day than a week, but some of those figures are definitely high.

Your dreaming !! I wish you all the best but maybe you should be realistic or think about the snowdome
3 days snowdome x £40 = £120
3 days return train x £20 = £60
3 days food and drink x £20 = £60

There you go just under your £250 budget !

Thanks for the response guys, it all helps, I know our budget is low but when we went over new year infact we didn't book through TO and done it all independantly so had to buy lift passes there ect, I am aware it may cost more for only couple of nights rather than week, but have had a look on skibed and lots of accommodation with lift passes from £100-130 that's around our budget, so would need transfer and flights. But I posted to get any other ideas or offers, we don't need anything fancy, a croissant for breakfast, baguette for lunch, pasta ect for dinner thank you
