Last year i paid 170eur for a family of 4 from innsbruck airport to Obergurgl each way
Having just returned from a holiday in crete a similar transfer cost 65eur in a big merc
with iced water, mints and a driver with a tie. very impressive
so i cant help wandering that im being taken for a ride in Austria and i will resend to pay
the same tranfer fee this coming season.
any advice will be appreciated

a) Get on a train
b) Hire a car
c) Get on a bus
d) Look at whether it's cheaper to get taxis from desitnation or origination - IIR Snowheads general wisdom correctly - if you're going insbruck to St. Anton then it's cheaper to get a taxi provided from St. Anton rather than the airport.
Besides you can't really compare the too - the costs of living in AU are higher than GR, plus I would imagine so are vehicular running costs

Hired a car instead last season for the transfer from Innsbruck to Obergurgl. Cost less than a one way taxi transfer and allowed us to drive down to Solden for a days skiing. Parking is usually free at your hotel.

Although this thread is more than two years old, other snowheads might, like me, find it when searching for the best value transfers from Innsbruck to Obergurgl. The best value I have found is a company called Four Seasons Travel. They would be €127 each way, for a family of four. (That's for a non-exclusive transfer, so you might end up with other people in the same minibus if they are also heading to Obergurgl or Solden.)

Bus "F" to Innsbruck from the airport 7km to Hauptbahnhof (Innsbruck central station).
The cost is quite cheap!
"The bus line F will take you to the city center (every 15 minutes / on Sunday it departs every 30 minutes). Cost €1,80 (Aug/2010)" - From http://wikitravel.org/en/Innsbruck
