Help!!
Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Snowheads,
Planning gear to take to Courcheval in March, I have all the clothing ready to take and will hire skis and boots in resort (I hav'nt been for a long while) but we never really did helmets ages ago so I'm not sure if I will be able to hire a helmet in resort or if I should buy one prior to going. If hiring isn't an option any top tips for beginners/early intermediate types for me to buy. Grateful as always for any recommended companies.

The hire shop we use in Chatel has them to hire (or buy) and I think that will be the position quite widely these days.
Our kids got several seasons out of fairly basic Decathlon helmets which were les than £10 if I remember correctly. Then fashion "sense" kicked in and they had to buy new ones.
They are a bit of a pain to pack if you are travelling by air
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

DJL/holidayloverxx, thank you very much for that; I've bookmarked the website for a good read later. I think hiring will be the best option till I know the old pins still enjoy throwing themselves down the odd hill and will consider buying after this trip (I am flying so as you say it's all extra stuff to pack).
Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Intersport hire helmets as part of the ski/boot package (as an option) and have a couple of stores in Courchevel.

Not sure I'd want to be the person who used a helmet after me. Those things can get pretty sweaty at times...
