Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Kitzbuhel to Westendorf

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hello Folks,

A group of us heading to kitz on Jan 28th and were thinking of skiing over to Westendorf for a day.
Any tips on best way to get there and good areas to ski.
Thanks in advance.

Ski down to Skirast or Aschau (marked on piste map) and get the Postbus.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Get the bus (5 mins?) to the bottom of the Ki-West gondola, which is part of Westendorf. Plenty of great skiing in Westendorf, what are you looking for? The 111 is a nice run, although I preferred the old longer version with the bus back to the new shorter one with the gondola at the bottom. Some nice mellow offpiste variants to it too.

If you ski over via Aschau, you can have quite a wait for a postbus: I just missed one yesterday and had 40 minutes until the next one - made a good excuse for a lunch stop Very Happy
The buses between Skirast and KiWest seemed a lot more frequent - every 10 minutes IIRC.

As clarky999, said get the bus, one every 10 mins or so from the Pengelstein I car park to the KiWest lift. Good long red down to Brixen with a stop (Kandleralm) on the way!

Chick, Check this plot, should give you an idea:

Looks like I left the bottom of the Alpenrosebalm in Westendorf at 9:30am, and got onto the PendlestagI (so all the way down the KiWest+bus) at 10.36am. So call it an hour. But I was not hanging around, and you will be going much later in the day when the pistes may not quite be in such a flying condition.

An hour should give plenty of time from the Alpenrosenbahn, and the run under KiWest is ideal for fast skiing.

Just to note, the KiWest gondola IS part of Westendorf though.
