Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Afternoon all.....
Here's a little challenge for you all..
Want to head off to the mountains for a long weekend (thurs pm - sun pm) With the other half, so looking about 2 full days on the slopes all in all....
Thinking the 16 - 19 feb.
Wondered if anyone had any suggestions, or had done a similar small trip....and before you all tell me Chamonix....here's some thing we want, and don't want.
Don't want:
- France.....unless we're talking the pyrenees...
- proverbial big resorts, this is a weekend away with the missus so am after chocolate box charm...
- Brit half term prices and chaos.
Do want:
- reasonably close to airport so approx 60 to 90 mins transfer to, we will hire a car.
- a couple or so bars in the place.
- intermediate to advanced skiing / boarding...don't want just blues n greens.
- snow sure location for mid feb.
- pretty little place, with some charm..
Totally interested to see what you could all come up with...2 places that spring to mind are Kitzbuhl and hinterglem...

Cheers all...

First of all your in half term, it will be busy pretty much anywhere. Have you considered Les Diablerets? Its in Switzerland, the other end of Lake Geneva to Geneva itself, lovely little place and good ski area. You said about a car but you can get a train right from the airport into the resort, with a change at Aigle. It would be cheaper in my opinion. The train ride itself from Airport to resort with the changeover takes no more than 2 hours maximum. Skiing is good with a glacier up to 3000m. There are some lovely restaurants and bars etc with a very swiss feel, not many brits there. Its just a thought, not sure if its what your after. Good luck and let me know what you think.

Evening flight to Munich on easyjet, hire car, a ski welt or similar resort booked via official website. Sunday evening flight back. 3 days skiing. Done this plenty of times and am doing so again the week later than you, though thursday to monday evening for 4 days skiing. We will probably go to saalbach/ hinterglemm. Happy days

, Most difficult thing will be find accom that week that isn't Saturday to Saturday compounded by the fact it's half term. Kitzbuhel is def do-able as is Saalbach-Hinterglem.

You could stay in Innsbruck if you're stuggling for in resort accoms and go to one of the local hills, they're pretty decent.
