Andrew Musgrave caused a massive stir in Norway yesterday coming second in the 15km free technique race in the Norwegian National Champs, though being a Brit he doesn't get a silver medal.
The equivalent of the BBC in Norway is NRK and their web site leads with a splash about the Elite team being humiliated by Alsgard (who is 40) and a Brit. See NRK.no (link below but you'll need google translate to get it in English)
The sub head of the article reads....
Thomas Alsgaard (40) and Briton Andrew Musgrave outdistanced the Norwegian cross-country skiing elite in NM. Landslagstreneren (national coach) despair of the poor result.
Northug was in the lead at 2 k, but then felt heavy and so couldn't race at his normal pace....

Nope Muzzy was 15.4secs ahead which is an age  , plus it was a time trial. Muzzy would have had time checks on both Sundby and Ansnes as (from the bib numbers) he started after them. Muzzy would have also had a good idea where Northug was as he (Northug) started right behind Muzzy.

And if you were thinking that this was a one off, freak result, today was the 30km skiathlon (15km skate, followed by 15km skate) at the Norwegian Nationals, bearing in mind that classic isn't Muzzy's favourite he psted a very creditable 5th place.
