Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

inside out in the (grim) north?

Hi

Looking for a bit of advice from the snowHead gurus around ski skills progression before this year's big trip.

By way of background, I've had 3 weeks' tuition over the last couple of years, and (depending on whose chart you read) am at improver level eg a 6/7 here http://www.insideoutskiing.com/level.html, or a level 5 here http://www.skinewgen.com/find-your-level/ski-levels.html. Still working on confidence, but very comfortable with practising at my local fridge (chill factor) and running through the drills I can remember.

I really like the look of the Inside Out skills clinics ( http://www.insideoutskiing.com/uk/skills.html ), as they seem to suit my level well. My problem is that, living in sunny manchester, chill factor offers "development lessons" for what it calls levels 7,8 & 9, ( http://www.chillfactore.com/ski-board/ski/development-lessons ), however the content seems based very much around skiing parallel, then "advanced clinics" for things like short turns / carving.

In comparison with Inside Out, the chill factor offerings seem poor value, and I also seem to run the risk of either repeating content (which I know isn't a bad thing, but I want to push skills towards the edge rather than consolidate what I've got), or trying to run before I can walk.

Has anyone any suggestions for the best ways for me to progress, without having to head all the way to that London? - or, does anyone have experience of the chill factor sessions, and think they could suit ie they're just not advertised that well?

Any advice would be really appreciated.

Cheers

trickygibbon, You could also look at what is on offer at Castleford, it doesn't take that long to drive over there.

trickygibbon,
I live in the Northwest and I travelled to do a day with Insideout.
Its really not that far, 3-4 hours, stayed in a travel lodge type place the night before.
I don't have any views on the Chill Factore lessons as I have no experience of them.
I went to see insideout because of the input on discussions on here and they did not disappoint. Rob is an excellent teacher and their days are good value.
Get yourself down the motorway.

trickygibbon, sorry we're not able to teach 'up north'. We're thinking about approaching Tamworth to see if we can expand our programme to teach there, but I don't think we would get permission to teach at ChillFactore.

@Timberwolf - NehNeh
@Ris - thanks, will see if Castleford offers anything suitable
@Mike / Rob - Cheers, Tamworth is far more do-able, will keep me fingers crossed. For me, it's more of a problem with not having available time, than an issue with travelling. Might well book a day off (assuming OH hasn't booked them all already) and venture down if I can before March.

Cheers all.
