Poster: A snowHead
|
Me and two mates are going to Flaine in the 1st week of march. Theres a chance we may be able to get some skiing in on the afternoon we arrive.
However the 31 euro 4 hour pass seems a bit expensive especially if we only get 2 hours or so.
Iv also looked at the points system, but we are all quite accomplished skiers and last time i went to flaine i was doing the to fo the DMC to the bottom pretty quickly so feel we may use up a load of points.
So i was wondering if anyone could tell me if we could go up the DMC and ski around using the new (desert blanc) chairlift whilst only paying for one trip up?

But not when compared to £23 or so an hour for a UK snowdome.....

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

wam15, you wouldn't have to go down on them, just up, and ski down
€31 does seem excessive for 4 hours though. Mind you, can't beat the feeling of skiing on the same day you left Blighty.

Lou yeah it is always good to get an afternoon in, but it is always painful when you get to the aiport at 530.
Jive Thanks for that, i hadn't spotted it. However, we are going with a TO so have already booked our 6 day pass for the rest as it was just easier that way.

wam15, Unless they discount standard rates (Inghams do sometimes) then usually there's no advantage.
Strongly suggest you check the link and look specifically at the Flaine pdf as there's a points based system: 20 points costs 15.70€ and allows
Petit Balacha 2 pts
Telesige des gerats 2pts
Telesiege de Verds 10 pts
Telecabine de l'aup de veran 12 pts
Telepherique des grandes Platieres 16 pts
40 points costs 31.40€
Potentially this could solve your dilemma and keep a look our on www.buyclub,ch/geneva for special deals on passes - I bought GM passes for 20€ recently

Thanks for that. I think its what we will end up doing or i saw you can buy one trip up grandes platieres which looked like a good option. It will also encourage me to ski slower (which is probably a good idea on day one.
For the lift passes, they were the same price from the TO or buying in resort so we went for the convieniance option.
On a side note, do you know if they have fixed the aup de veran yet?

New Dessert Blanc has scanners so no option to not have a pass
Nearest lift from the bottom to Diamant Noir is Tete des Verds - cheaper in points than the DMC
