Poster: A snowHead

I got some new boots recently 329mm. I can't remember what the old boots were in length and just wondering if the binding is still the correct fit.
I put them in the binding and they seem to fit but I'm wondering if adjustments need to be made.
How can I check the correct binding length for the boot?

The forward pressure adjustment (which is in effect a fine length adjustment) needs to be correctly set but it is important to get it right as the din release settings are only accurate when the forward pressure is set correctly.
The adjustment method for each make/model of binding vary a lot (although the principle is exactly the same) but without knowing the make/model of your binding it's not possible to advise on how.
Please do a search as this question has been asked many times for virtually every binding!

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

It's a Marker 11 but I think it's fixed, ie no rail to adjust on.

GordonFreeman, For most Marker. Put boot in binding, turn adjustment screw on end of heel binding when screw is flush with end of housing the forward pressure is correct. If the din setting has changed you are turning the wrong screw.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

How much can you adjust for a new boot size though? Think previous boots were 28.5 but not sure mm length, these seem a few mm's onger even though still 28.5

You'll need to Register first of course.

Has the screw not become flush? Will easily be enough

Just bought new boots in Ellis Brigham, took my skis in and they changed/checked the bindings and DIN settings for me. From memory, when I bought my skis last year, I searched online and found a DIN setting calculator that takes into account your boot sole size - this should be printed/embossed on your boot somewhere?

GordonFreeman, if in doubt (and I'm often in doubt about bindings) why not ask a ski shop to check them over for you, when you go skiing? If you're not hiring anything from the shop for anyone in your party they'll probably charge around 5 euros.

My new 26.5 boots are 2mm shorter than my old 26.5 boots. It's the difference between staying in your bindings and not. Or vice versa.

GordonFreeman, Have you not turned the screw yet? See my previous post.
