Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

I have them in my right boot, just waiting to try them out in January. Never yet found the perfect solution for one foot, but here's hoping.

I had a look at the video, I'd be doubtful of their effectiveness, as a veteran of trying to keep sticky pads of various shapes and descriptions in boots and shoes over the years those pads must really come with some incredibly strong glue on them to stay put. I note it says that you will need to hold them in place with fingers when re-inserting the liners, but also noted that the video didn't show the re-insertion! I would think that they would just roll off during the insertion. I expect that you would do as well with some sellotape extra sticky sticky pad fixers with one side left on Laughing Try them and report back I could easily be wrong, and they might be best thing since sliced bread. If it's any use this is what I did http://snowheads.com/ski-forum/viewtopic.php?p=1482603&highlight=neoprene#1482603

Megamum, Not easy to get them in and they do say that they are good for a week, so not a permanent fix, but again here's hoping. Your sock sounds interesting can you point me in the direction of a seller?

thanks

Totally agree about getting them to stay in place on re-insertion of the liner. Perhaps the addition of some duct tape may help..

I'll get some and give it a go.

mfamily2, I've been trying to find the manufacturer on the internet - I've half an idea that Salomon were mentioned, but that it may have been an out of production think. I wonder if the elbow of a neoprene suit would work.

It was a device that looked like this http://www.wiggle.co.uk/mueller-neoprene-ankle-support/ slightly longer in the foot and slightly higher in the ankle and big enough to go over the ski boot liner.

Megamum, don't use the elbow of a suit, just buy some neo socks - loads of suppliers for bodyboarding (where fins are used) and some diving suppliers, it seems to be a big thing for fishing too.

Just buy them much bigger than you need, and cut off the bits you don't want (heel, toe etc) and they should be fine. Google "neoprene socks" and about a million results come up for around a tenner.

I have tried a couple of things - one was a boot fitter chucking a couple of pads onto the outside of the liner, just the right shape, either side of the achilles, which has worked (they are very very well stuck on) the other was a lace up thingy which goes outside the liner and can be tightened up, unfortunately nowhere near as tight as the clasps on a ski boot really.

The nice thing about the liner was because it fitted completely around the foot it filled space both above and below and the difference they made when I put my foot back in the boot was amazing, esp. with the the addition of a superfeet insole.

I have some homemade equivalents - been in place about 5 snow weeks, work a treat. Made of that blue and red stickyback foam you often see lying around in the bootfitters, cut into L shapes. No problem staying on while reinserting the liners into boot. aj xx
