Poster: A snowHead

Off to Saas Fee tomorrow hopefully. Is anybody there now who could give an accurate account of what is open (lifts and pistes) and the snow conditions?
Thanks!

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

If you read "The View from Espace Killy" thread, I think the answer is "shed loads and more snow than they need."

So had a night in Chandolin where it threw it down almost all night. Woke up the next morning to a good foot and fresh snow. At Saas Fee however, which isn't that far away there didn't seem to be much evidence of last night's snow fall. It was all wind blown powder. Reasonably conditions but not the deep powder I was hoping for. Very limited terrain was open today, even though the upper glacier is ok. Apparently they were preparing it for the weekend. There are still plenty of rocks about and the coverage is not perfect off the main open runs.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

I am in Saas throughout the whole season, the snow is great at the moment and its snowing hard for the next week. Not full coverage at the moment, but by the end of the week i think we will have a great base. Snow canons have been blasting the lower slopes for the past 2 weeks so all runs should be open by the end of the week. Unfortunately weather has caused a few lifts (1 of the main gondola's and some t-bars at the top) to be closed for the past few days. But you can still get to the very top.

We're due out first week of Feb. With the exchange rate circa 1.45 today as opposed to 1.2 when we were in the Jungfrau for summer hols, things sound quite promising.
Will the Swiss franc regain its safe haven status soon, though? The national bank must be printing money at a rate of knots to be maintaining/depreciating against the Euro.
There is at least a hope for merely ruinously expensive beer as opposed to it being completely unaffordable.
