Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hi all,

Is there much available in the way of reading material in regards to adaptive skiing? A quick search on Amazon hasn't produced much, but I was thinking along the lines of something that discusses equipment, techniques etc...

the black boat, Nope, not much available about Adaptive skiing at all. I recently found a book called Alpine Achievement by Lori J. Batcheller (on Amazon) which is about the history of the US Disabled Ski Team. It also has some of the history of the development of equipment. Maybe not exactly what you're looking for but I'm finding it quite interesting.

Thanks Sara, that's one of only two books I found, the other was a book on how to teach adaptive skiing. Based on your recommendation I think I'll order Lori's book.

Bold tracks by Hal Oleary is worth a look. Hal is considered the pioneer of ski teaching for disabled skiers.

The Professional Ski Instructors of America/American Association of Snowboard Instructors has a manual 'Adaptive Snowsports Instruction' which might be of interest to you. The ISBN of the 2003 edition I have is 1-882409-24-8. I must admit that I haven't more than glanced at the book Embarassed but it does seem to give quite detailed information about skiing and snowboarding with various disabilities.
