Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

UK ski tour operator promises to "balance out greenhouse gas emissions from all flights"

Le Ski, a specialist in chalet holidays in the French Alps, has undertaken to make all its flights "carbon neutral" this winter. This is believed to be the first time that a ski tour operator has made a comprehensive commitment of this sort, though other operators have invited clients to 'buy into' CO2 'balancing' schemes.

This is what Le Ski say in their 2005-6 brochure:
Quote:
We've teamed up with Climate Care to make your flight 'climate neutral'. At no cost to you, we pay to balance out the greenhouse gas emissions from your flight.
Climate Care restores rainforest and sets up green energy schemes to cut greenhouse gas emissions on our behalf.
To ensure the environmental integrity of the climate care label, and that CO2 offsets are delivered to the highest standard, scrutiny of Climate Care's work is provided by a steering committee which includes the WWF and Forum for the Future.

For reference, Climate Care is on www.climatecare.org

Any comments on this scheme?

BBC Countryfile reported on some similar schemes yesterday. There was an argument that some schemes are only helping the Gov reach existing targets and that they don't go beyond this.
