Poster: A snowHead
|
I'm off to Val d'Isere with a group of friends next week. We're staying in La Daille and will be looking for somewhere to eat on our chalet host's night off. It's been a few years since I was last there, so it would be good to hear of any recent recommendations. Doesn' t need to be anything particularly fancy, but somewhere pleasant with good food would be perfect. Les Tufs will probably be the default choice.

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

Try the Le Samovar, but you will need to book - great choice of food.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Was going to say Les Tufs might not necessarily be the best choice if you're only eating out one night, but from its website, it looks like it's been extensively renovated (if not totally rebuilt) since I was last there. Le Barillon by the navette stop is nice too.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

shoogly, I have eaten several times over the years at Chez Paulo, located at the Rond Point Pistes. They do pizzas and pasta and are not too expensive. My wife was happy to eat there on the chalet staff day out.

Something in La Daille itself would suit us best.

My recommendations and locations restaurant wise in Val d'Isere are as follows:
Barillon - La Daille - great food - amazing salads and steaks
Le Lodge - centre of town (opposite Victors - just down from Dicks Tea Bar) - awesome steaks and traditional French food.
Le Toviere - La Daille - this is a hotel but anyone can eat in - really really nice food (good set menu as well)... good prices too.
Bistrot des Cimes / 1789 (owned by the same people) - centre of town - opposite main bus station - wonderful local food and really friendly service.
Personally only place I say 'avoid' is the Pedrix Blanche - everyone seems to get an upset stomach there... tour ops seem love recommending it as they get a GREAT commission!
