Hi does anyone know anything about the freshtracks (ski club) holidays. I am planning on going to the Vertical in Val (development) on the 29th January. But before I book up I wondered what people’s experiences of these holidays were?

eljayb, Welcome to Snowheads
I havent done the Vertical In Val (somebody I know is doing it in Jan) but perhaps asking on the SCGB forum might give you more replies. I did 2 trips with them to Les Deux Alps with coaching and had a great time with like minded folks trip.

eljayb, I've done two Freshtracks holidays (not the Vertical in Val, though). One was great, with a superb leader and very nice people on the course, the other was filled with plonkers, including the leader. Luck of the draw, I guess. The holidays certainly aren't cheap.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

The majority of people I know who have attended a Ski Club of GB course have enjoyed it and found that their skiing improved significantly. They usually have very good instructors and guides, perhaps this is part of the reason why they are a little more expensive. Of course, there is always a potential of getting a few plonkers in any group. I'm surprised that the leader on one of the trips was a plonker, but I suppose the club is not immune.
(I used to be a Ski Club of Great Britain Rep - just for transparency)

You'll need to Register first of course.

JWP1969, trust me, she was a total plonker. And, for various reasons, the tuition I received on that holiday wasn't great either. In fact, a friend (also a Ski Club rep, as it happens) asked me how I'd managed to un-learn so much technique during the week! Ah well, these things happen. As I say, the other holiday was great.
Edit: I've just checked, said plonker is still repping - sorry, leading - but not on the holiday which the OP is doing.

i went on a freshtrax performance week..the 2 others on it were a psychiatrist and a barrister..so i suppose its going to depend on who else turns up..after all thats who you will be skiing/eating/hanging out with..do you need pyshiatrich advice or a barrister? im not sure i did..but what the hell......you have to make the most of any situation and at least they pay for a few bottles of wine and werent bad skiers..the freshtrax team leader was pretty cool and the 'performance' worked for me...so all in all i would reccomend
