London snowHeads, join us for beeper practise.
Location: Primrose Hill
Date and time: Sunday, 20th November at 1pm (sunset is due at 4pm)
Meeting point: park gate on the corner of Primrose Hill Road and Regents Park Road
You will need to bring your own avy transceiver. For this to really work, especially for practising multiple burials, we need at least 4 people with transceivers (that gives us a 3 victims and 1 searcher scenario).
Afterwards, we can nip over the road to one of the many restaurants/bars for a meal and/or drinks.
Attending:
Zero-G (1 trannie)
Big Paua (1 trannie)
betterinblack (trannie?)
Pedantica (no trannie)
Badpanda and Mr Badpanda (2 trannies)
Interested:
Jivebaby
rob@rar (1 trannie)
Fatbob (2 trannies)
snowball (1 trannie)
adamantis (no trannie)
Location/directions/parking:
Travelling by tube:
Northern Line to Chalk Farm.
Exit Chalk Farm station (the red "X" on the map below) and turn right into Adelaide Rd.
First left into Bridge Approach Rd.
Cross the foot bridge (red line on the map below).
Walk along Regents Park Rd till you get to the park.
It's about a 3-4 minute walk from Chalk Farm Station to the meeting point.
Travelling by bus:
The 274 stops at a number of stops along the edge of the park on Prince Albert Rd (south of the park).
The 31 stops at Chalk Farm station (so follow the directions above to get to the park).
Travelling by car:
If you're driving, best places to park are any of the side streets shown on the map, e.g. Chalcot Road, Fitzroy Road, Chalcot Crescent, etc.

I can do any Sunday in November but after that I'm pretty much booked out.

I'm not sure I'd want to go Norf of the river on a weekend. I do however have 2 trannies. Ideally you want bracken or long grass for hiding victims.

I'm interested in principle, dates permitting.
fatbob, up here in the North we'll probably have real snow by then

Sorry to butt in but may I suggest Wimbledon Common which as I understand it from the Daily Mail, has a long history of tolerance for the sorts of activities you are proposing. BTW is 'hiding the victim' some kind of metaphor amongst the transvestite dogging community ?

moffatross, hampstead heath is much easier for those of us in north london
and trannies are readily available just down the road next to Euston station www.transformation.co.uk (link may not be safe for work - I haven't risked it!)

Zero-G,
Thanks for taking the initiative on this one. Great idea. Definitely interested for any Sunday in November. Can do the dates suggested. If all goes according to plan at ski show, I should have my own transceiver by 6 November.

Agreed - sounds like an excellent initiative.
Either Sunday in the afternoon would work for me if you are still considering this.

moffatross, I’ve done a transceiver session at Wimbledon Common and will say it’s not ideal because, although you have a marker for your start point, you are working on flat terrain rather than a hill, so it is difficult to maintain the direction of your zigzag search pattern. And yes, we did try using landscape features to mark the direction of the fall line but with the thickness and ‘sameness’ of the bush this was not always possible. Something with a hill and a fall line will be better. So it’s Primrose Hill – or we could head to Hampstead Heath (in that case, someone who knows it should advise the best spot).
And as admin has said above, there is a chance we’ll have a snow-covered hill by November.
Keeping with the trannie theme of this thread, perhaps we should all do the session in drag
Ok, I'll update the first post with dates and those who can do those dates.

It's zone 1, not that far north!

Zero-G, Anything north of the Surrey Hills/North Downs (beautiful spot btw ideal for your purposes) counts as Norf.

Yes but then south of that is no longer in London, innit. So not great for London-based snowHeads.

Whatever the date concluded on if it's a Sunday pm I'm a maybe. Save some icecream tubs as well to hide the active beacon and act as decoys to make people do fine bracketing properly

Good idea! Erm... I don't eat ice-cream, so if anyone else does, save the tubs.

Is there an extra long week this year - between Sunday 13th Nov and Sunday 23rd Nov?
Asssuming we are talking about the Sundays in the rest of Nov I should be able to make these too.
The sooner we decide on a date the better - less chance of a competing event emerging to foul up plans

I'm interested if I'm free.
You simply have to set a date, time & location otherwise it won't happen.
I've done Transceiver Practice in Richmond Park. All you need to make sure is that there are fallen leaves to bury the target.

Fixed now.
Ok, we're down to two dates (the last two Sundays in November). Anyone else have a preference for either one of those dates? Said preference will be the decider.

I'm interested I can make it on the 20th, I'll be in Tignes on the 27th.
If any one fancies a bit of "skiing" I could bring along a couple of pairs of grass skis, unless we really do have an arctic winter and then bring your own planks

Later in the month is looking better for me as OH starts reminding me of earlier commitments. Shall we make it the 20th and thus work any other stuff around it?

Alrighty, it's the 20th then. Am recommending 1pm because sunset will be at 4pm, so that will give us a couple of hours to do our thing. I'll scope good 'victim' spots priot to everyone's arrival so that we can get straight to it.
Let me know if you have a beacon (I'll add that info to the opening post).
Right, I'm off to make a few sacrifices to the gods of snow so that we may do this session in snowy conditions... on skis...

20th at 1pm it is.
Will have transceiver by then.

Put me down as interested. I'd like to come, and will bring my transceiver, but I'm teaching the previous day and the following day so will have to negotiate a pass from SWMBO if I'm going to use another weekend day for ski-related fun.

Would love to do this and am free on 20 Nov, but don't have a transceiver (yet). Would it be alright to come along and 'shadow' someone who does have one?

I'm on for this, although I'll probably have to bring Spudette (age 6) with me. Will probably combine it with a trip to London Zoo in the morning.
I've got a transceiver (freshly acquired, never used).

Did you need your passport when you crossed from Wales into England?

Yes, I have a transceiver.
I left Wales before I had a passport.
You have to pay to enter Wales on the Severn Road Bridges but you can leave for free.
