Hi All
My friend and i are planning a short early season trip to either Chamonix or Tignes.
We are heading out around December 1st for 4-5 night and basically we are looking for a cheap no frill accomadations.
We can get hostel accommodation in Cham for 17 euros, but are struggling to find anything similar in Tignes.
So basically can anyone point me in the direction of some cheap beds?
Cheers in advance

scottieruss, you could try mountainsun - their deals including transfers from Geneva and ski pass are hard to beat for overall cost and the accommodation/food is a lot better than a hostel.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I am also looking for Chamonix a few weeks later for a midweek break. Any chance you could pass on the details of your excellently priced hostel?
Thanks,
Jack

Scott.
Have you tried Chalet Chardons in Tignes Le Brevieres (www.chaletchardons.com) 129 euros for 7 nights halft board starting on the 3rd december. take a look. I stayed last Jan and had a great time, good links to the rest of Tignes. The accommodation is basic and the people are great, cheap beer as well.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

I dont think it gets much cheaper than Chalet Chardons in Les Brev, we stayed there in Feb, overall a good experience. Food is great, accommodation is, as stated basic, but all you need is a bed! Go for it.

scottieruss: Please PM me if any interest in our 4 person studio in Tignes Val Claret. It's £35 per night for short breaks in that week (Note: That's the price for the studio not per person ).

Is there always snow down to Tignes les Breviers in early December from snow making machines, or do you have to catch the bus?

smokeyjack2000, Hi Jack, the hostel is called Chamonaird voalnt and is situated fairly centrally, we stayed there 2 years agoa nd it was basic, but pretty decent.
Website is www.chamonaird.com
I believe from recollection there is also one next to the Brevent lift, which is similarily priced.
Hope this helps

junglist_matty,
I actually looked at the UCPA deals, which do look really good, unfortunately my friend can only get a few days off work so we are restricted to the shorter trip.
Thanks for the information though.

No but the bubble lift up is efficient. You can't get the bus from Brev into Lac/VC, it only goes as far as Boisses.

The cheap hostel beside the Brevent lift in Cham is Chalet Ski Station
http://www.chamonet.com/accommodation/hostels/chalet-ski-station.html
I stayed here a few times in the late 80's/early 90's. It doesn't look as though anything has changed. Basic as you want. It had a kitchen available to do your own cooking, but no stoves. Bring a camping stove.
I've always known it as Madame Berronier's Bunkhouse.
Edit
Actually, from the website it looks as though there is now a stove in the kitchen, but you can still use your own!
