Poster: A snowHead

hi all,
after opinions on those who have skied cervinia.......group of us looking at cervinia for next year, beginning feb. is there any/much nightlife, bars etc? we are not after mega busy bars just a few places with some atmosphere to go in the evening for a few drinks, previously everywhere we have been in italy has been pretty quiet, we don't last much later the 11.30pm anyway but would still like to go somewhere where there is a bit of evening atmosphere........... plus i've looked around the web and seen ski-doo, dog sleding, ice karting etc etc which we all quite fancy doing........ we are intermediate skiers and love the easy cruising of most of the italian resorts we've been to previously..... courmayer, pila, madesimo, marilleva/folgarida....... are the slopes extensive and interesting enough for a week? we're happy doing the same runs more then twice, we've done a couple of weeks in pila before and it didn't bother us, its all about the snow to us! not how many k's we clock up!!
thanks all!!

cbowls30, You'd love Selva and the Dolomites. All the usual plusses of Italy with Austrian infused après ski. Last time I was in Cervinia there was an Irish pub up the main street and a larger pub by the river. Both were ok but felt almost like you were back in the UK. Skiing wise Cervinia is fine although a lot if the slopes are at the easy end but the link with Zermatt, assuming it's open, would easily keep you busy for a week. Have a look at Selva though.

cbowls30, Cervinia is a large ski area, but mostly quite easy. There is more challenging skiing to be found on the Zermatt side if you buy an international lift pass.
There's plenty of après and most of the bars serve free nibbles too. Whether this extends into later evenings or not I don't know. I suspect not since most of the accommodation is hotel-based.

cbowls30, Yep lots of accommodation very close to the Dantercepies and Ciampinoi lifts and you can ski back to the village

There's a few busy bars. We stayed in the Dragon and the bar there was always busy. There was another bar just down the street which also seemed to be quite busy. We were never in the bar beyond midnight though as we have a youngster with us, so not sure what it gets like much later.
Activity wise they had some tubing going on, an air bag too. These seemed to run into the early evening as there was some lighting. You can ice skate at Linos. Apart from that I'm not sure what else there was to do. We usually just veg out with a beer and don't move much after skiing all day.
