Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Difference between 2010/11 and 2011/12 Marker Tours

 Poster: A snowHead

I want some Marker touring bindings, I can get the 2010/11 F12s pretty cheap but have read the 2011/12s have been improved for this year. I am an average skier, 5'9, average weight, only ski on a DIN of 6.5, are the improvements something I will notice and worth extra money or should I take the good deal on last years model.

Improvements listed here if anyone is interested

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Yeah I have read it but I don't know much about bindings or touring and am not sure if the improvements would affect me being that I've never broke any ski equipment before and don't imagine I'll push these to their limits either. I was just looking for some opinions from people who may know a bit more about it but thanks anyway for your helpful reply.

We sell these. The improvements were made for the reason stated in that link, so if the real question is "should I save money and buy last years rather than spend more money to get the latest verion?" then as SMALLZOOKEEPER says look at what changes have been made and whether it affects you, ie do you have ski boots with dynafit style mounts on the toe piece.

Personally binding manufacturers do not make changes without good reason, and having tested F10 2010/11 with a Dynafit boot I see the reason for the change of the rollers, as it was also prone to affecting a smooth transition to release (We have a binding test machine, plugged in, calibrated and running), so on bindings (in my opinion, with my Kneehab currently pumping my VMO muscle after knee surgery) saving money is not something you do with bindings, bit like eBay brake pads for your car, or laptop batteries from Hong Kong. You go with the very best you can possibly afford, and if that means paying more for the improved (rather than cosmetically changed) 2011/12 version for me it is a no brainer, even if you don't buy them from us!

In my opinion. Come on Kneehab, is that all you have got!? Ouch, OK, time to turn it down.

Hope that helps

PS - The loop on the Touring mode lever is a small but much improved mod, having had both versions on test. It shows the attention to detail and feedback too.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.
