When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Calais Snowtrain switches cross-Channel transfer from ferry to Eurotunnel

The legendary overnight Snowtrain for party-loving travellers from Calais to the Haute Savoie is switching its transfer from a Dover-Calais ferry crossing to a Folkestone-Calais connection by coach and Eurotunnel.

This could disappoint those who like a meal and shopping on the way over, but the advantage is a later check-in: two hours later, in fact.

Ski France, one of the key operators using this service promise low-cost parking at Folkestone as a bonus. This is the description of the new arrangements on their website:

Calais Snowtrain
This is the original Snowtrain service and thousands of regulars have been enjoying this no hassle service since the early 90's. Often known as the 'Dover Snowtrain' this service is no longer using the ferry for crossing the channel and as a result the check-in is much later and thus more convenient for those working on Friday!

This service is joined at on Friday evening and now commences with a EuroTunnel crossing to Calais from where the Snow Train departs and travels overnight to the Alps. On the return the departure is on Saturday evening and arrives back in the UK early on Sunday morning.
