Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

What to do with old Skis?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Anyone got any suggestions as what to do with an old pair of straight skis?

these are the only things I could think of:-
a very thin self
drill holes in them and make the worlds longest spice rack.
use them for runners on a suicidal sledge

any thoughts?

on a more serious note how do I dispose of them in an environmentally friendly way?

ebay them, someone will probably want them, whatever condition..

theres nothing more environmentally friendly as reusing something.. (unless they only buy them to use a kindling for a tyre fire Very Happy )

Hi WellySki0009,

Disability Snowsport UK are always looking for donations of old ski equipment that we can use at our ski schools, local groups and activity trips..

We have centres across the UK in Hemel, Milton Keynes, Manchester, Castleford, Tamworth and Braehead - hopefully one will be close to you!

If you're interested in donating your skis please do get in touch.

 snowHeads are a friendly bunch.
snowHeads are a friendly bunch.
You can always throw them our way, we use them in the Boot Camp training facility here (www.bctt.co.uk) to teach new ski shop techs or DIY ski techs how to do things right.

And we sometimes lend Edddie The Eagle Edwards old ones for the Birdman Pier jumping contest on Worthing pier Smile

If you are near us and want to know they will be used for more than firewood do feel free to drop them in, will at least give you a nice brew in return!

PS - Gotta say I love that deck chair, and the wine rack on the other thread. Feeling the edge to go back to work and have a go right now...

WellySki0009,

Great to hear you'd like to donate your skis!

If you contact Dave (dave@disabilitysnowsport.org.uk) he can help you sort out getting the skis to Chill Factor Smile

Sledging is the only answer, A 2 m long sledge will create some transport and steering problems so I am working on an articulated version. Now any hints as to how to cut skis neatly in half.
