Poster: A snowHead

Anyone out there tried the Village des Enfants in Avoriaz?
I'm really reluctant to use ESF again and the Village des Enfants looks like a good alternative. I assumed it was for very young children but having looked at the website I see that they cater for children up to 16 and also do snowboarding lessons.
I'm interested to hear whether it is suitable for English children, particularly for my youngest who's quite shy and will only be 6 when we go there.
Incidentally, we'll be there outside of French school holidays so I'm hoping that they won't be as outnumbered.

Annie Famosse's crowd are good for young English children, where language is not of great use. At that age children get on with each other with the international childrens language (play). They are good for the French kids as that is the spoken language in the group. I do not know if it very good for older children that do not speak French. Sorry I could not be more possitive, but they are my observations.

Thanks Roy,
I suspected this would be the case. I've just received a reply to my email asking them the same questions. They say that they have a lot of English customers and all their instructors speak English.

Honestly, would stay clear of Village Des Enfant. We went for it with our youngest - who was 4 at the time - as he was too young for the English speaking alternatives, Alpine Ski School etc.
VdE assured us that English children were all very well catered but the reality was very little effort was made to engage him. We lasted about 3 days with him (and he's normally a very hardy kid) by the end of which he was simply refusing to go. The final straw came when I went to pick him up and he came running, hysterical to me. Clearly he had been in tears for ages, and the instructor he was with had barely bothered to comfort him. When I tried to ask the instructor what had been happening, he simply turned and walked off.
I tried taking it up with the Village des Enfant people later but they simply couldn't be bothered. No response from the manager etc.
Utterly dreadful. Avoid at all costs if you don't want to risk putting your kids off skiing for life!

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

marmalade, we used the Village for our children in mid March and they loved it. They were 8 and 9 at the time. The group they were in were mostly french speakers altho there were a couple of other english children. Our girls made friends with all the other girls (not boys!) in the group regardless of whether they were french or english.
Their instructor spoke to the group in french and english.
Based on our experience I would definately use them again.
