Snow Reports
FAQ
Help!!
Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

It might do the trick if they change the names of some of the piste runs to
Charle Sheen black
Kevin Costner Blue
Greg Norman Green
Goldie Hawn summit
etc
etc
Aspen is a bit difficult to get to unless you have a private jet that can uses it runway.
Like Zermatt, Lech, Ischgl and St Moritz there is a unmistakeable atmosphere that these are skiing areas for the privilege few.
What sort of pocket can afford
"The Skico sales team has spent 500 days on the road in 18 countries and 49 U.S. cities this summer trying to spur business."
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Not really here from Amsterdam you can fly into Aspen (1 change) with one of the major carriers in just over 13hrs.

Is the road beyond Lech open in the Winter?
Aspen is similar to Val D'Isere, La Rosiere (France), Diavolazza (St Moritz Switzerland), Livigno(Italy), Galtur(Austria) etc that road beyond the resort is shut for the winter.
I skied Aspen by flying to Denver which is 320km away of 3.5 hour drive. I did it by staying in Vail first.
Unlike St Anton/Lech which does not have a lack of visitors problem Aspen's 4 resorts are relatively quiet, especially Aspen Mountain next to the town. I wouldn't have thought a skiing facility, with only 1 gondolas and 7 chairlifts, right at the edge of a large Aspen town would have a financial problem. They might want more people to use their facilities though. I must say the infrastructure is brilliant as I could drive to Buttermilk, park my car there and take the free bus to any one of the resorts quickly. There was one trip back to Buttermilk from Aspen Mountain the wife and I were the only passengers!
Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Have you ever skiied Aspen? Many of those who haven't skiied there think it's only for the rich and famous. For pure skiing it's far better than Lech, Zurs or Val D'Isere but not as good as the top of the Valluga at St Anton
