Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Verbier - Lift Pass Upgrades

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I've found a decent deal for the usual trip to Verbier next season, it comes with a half price lift pass offer but the pass is the local one only.

If i went for that, then went and cried to the ladies in the ticket office, would they allow me to upgrade it to the whole area pass by paying the usual difference in price?

I think you might have to do it by buying one at the ticket offices at the bottom of the Jumbo or the Gentianes lifts each time you go through. However there are never any queues at those offices and it may work out cheaper as you will only pay for the upgrade as you need it.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Mosha Marc, I'd turn the screw on the seller of the deal and get a full pass (or at least try to) at this stage before you do the deal.......... TO's pushing Verbier will be up for deals I reckon given the exodus to other Eurozone ski areas they'll be looking to sell and throw in goodies.

Dont think you'd get much of a deal at ticket office, the smiling crocodiles they employ at ticket offices in Verbier are not known for their generosity IME!!

Steve Sparks, thanks, but I'll probably need to upgrade every day. I'd be happy to do that for the saving though.

Markymark29, I dunno, I've always had a bit of banter with the lasses at the medran, especially if it's to skank a few extra freebies they sometimes give away. Cool

I'll try the TO though - it's been so long since I used one that it hadn't crossed my mind.

Mosha Marc, we did this last year with Crystal. you can just take the pass to Medran and upgrade it to a full pass for the normal difference so worked out pretty well. friends started down the route of "we'll upgrade at Jumbo if we need to" and quickly ended up paying more as the little booth will only upgrade you for the day.

IIRC the rep on the transfer bus did try and flog us "upgrades" but at substantially more than just taking the pass along to medran. unless its half term etc then this should only take a few minutes.

That was easy. Crystal say it's a fault on their website. If I book the holiday and then call a bloke in the office they'll upgrade to full area for about £6!

apologies for changing the course of the thread but we're thinking of going back to verbier after being there in '08 but we're hearing reports that it's gone from being expensive to ridiculously expensive and we made the mistake of going to val d'isere in '09 expecting the apres to be good but people had been priced away and it was very quiet Sad
we don't want to make that mistake again and was wondering if anybody had any real knowledge on the prices there Smile

gad, The CHF has dropped a lot against the £ since 2008 and is now just under 1.40 as opposed to 2.00 in 2008 so you're going to see a massive change as a result of the exchange rate. Price inflation has been reasonably stable in Switzerland and as long as you're not going to be doing the stuff the uber rich do (and I don't supposed you'd be worried about cost if you were) CHF prices won't be much different. Let's just hope you've got a few thousand CHFs left over from last time!

cheers steve , i've researched the historical exchange rate but it doesn't factor in whether the fahreinheit bar will be rocking or not Razz , we're just about to book it but st.anton is looking more and more attractive as that was one place where all the boxes were ticked and wasn't a rip off.
