Poster: A snowHead

Probably left it too late this summer, but who can suggest the closest place to central London for running a few gates?
Thanks,
DM

Get a Snowheads team together and enter Kings next season - races at Wycombe.
Details at www.kingsski.org or pm me for more (if not join one of the Natives teams)

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

DM, how long does it take you to get to Milton Keynes on an evening?

marc, too long I think, home by 6.30, collect car, drive through London (I guess...). Via Michelin puts the drive at 1.25 hours, which probably doesn't factor traffic.
Sherlock Chalets, Wycombe might be a better bet, 30 minutes from Paddington I think. Need to get my act together better next year.
Thx!

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

mesk1, I thought it did, but I could easily be wrong.

mesk1, no, sadly Beckton Alps hasn't functioned for years. There were advanced plans for a snowdome on the same site, and some foundations were laid, but everything ran into the dust. I don't know what's happening there now.

David Goldsmith, I vaguely remembered the idea of it becoming a snowdome, shame really it seemed ideally located.

David Murdoch, we have a fairly laid back coached session at Aldershot every Sat 8am (sometimes that's a bit nominal) to 9.30 (sharp..as the littlies come on then). Normally works out about 15 mins warm up, 30 mins exercises, and 40 mins at the gates. Should actually be fairly convenient for you, as I'm currently doing the Albert Hall to here in about 50 mins, and Aldershot's 10-15 mins the other side. I think we're also considerably cheaper than Wycombe. There's also a Wed eve session (uncoached) 8pm - 9ish, although that's a bit sporadic in the summer (I've only been along to a couple myself), normally dependent on soundings taken the Sat am. I can probably find a contact number to check whether such a session is on for any particular week if you want.

GrahamN, that sounds interesting although motivation to get up at 7.00 on a saturday might be in some short supply. But of you had a contact number that would be great, thanks.

David Murdoch, forgot to get a number last week, but it's definitely on this Wed, although this week at the slightly earlier time of 7:30-8:45 (as we normally lock up the slope, but for some reason don't have keys ATM, so have to finish before official slope closing time). There'll probably be about a half-dozen of us.
