Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Ski trips to Andorra

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hello all - Last year I went for my first ever ski trip to Courchevel and of course as a new skier I fell so many times that my back side was hurting like hell by the end of the holiday. Anyway to cut the story short, I fell in love with skiing and got hooked for good. I consider my ability to be intermediate following my experience and the lessons that I have been doing since I got back.
I have since been doing a lot of research into ski resorts good for someone of my abilities and Andorra seems to tick all the boxes. I have one small problem, I have no one to go with and as such looking for any groups looking to invite one more into their pack or anyone seeking a ski buddy.
Andorra would be ideal but just to enjoy skiing, I will go anywhere preferably end of March '12 and any time in April '12. Any groups out there or anyone fancying a new ski buddy (34 yr old male) please do get in touch.

If you are short of ski buddies, a good way to get around it is to book with an operator that has ski guiding included. It means you will find a group to ski with, they have a mix of groups with different abilities usually.

Andorra will be fine for your second week of skiing, it has a big ski area, and you will be able to get down almost all of the runs in the Grandvalira by the end of the week.

One downside to Andorra is that it seems to be relatively short of chalets - that means that if you do get a few of you together you need to be ok with sharing a hotel room, or big single supplements. Personally I find chalets to be a good sociable way of meeting new people, skiing with new people in guiding groups, and singles who are in the chalet get included in what is going on, conversation etc very quickly.

A good way of getting people to sign up with you is to find a really good deal, and then let people know where you are going and what the deal is. If it is a good resort, good accommodation, and good price, you'll get people signing up.

Monium,

Cheers for the advice. I will look into the operator run trips and already been lucky and came across one that does trips to Chamonix, Morzine and Meribel (skiweekends.com).

Thanks again.

As you've found your way to this online community, why not book yourself onto the End of season bash (EOSB)? I think it was Val Thorens last season - just a thought as you say you'd like to go March/April 2012? I wouldn't mind going myself one year, a sure way to meet up with other snowheads at least who would (obviously) share your new found enthusiasm for the white stuff! Little Angel

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

If you can be flexible with your holidays from work and/or can take holiday at short notice, then this forum is ideal for meeting up with groups, I took a late booking last season with a guy from this forum, La Tania, the week before xmas the entire holicay cost including spending and getting to the airport was £750. as the Chalet was still not full with us coming along we got given separate rooms into the bargain. I'll be doing the same this season. Who you ski with is every bit as important as where.

fortcube08, If you do go to Andorra join the ski school classes as this will help your skiing and also get you into a group of similar standard skiers, some of whom you might want to socialise or ski with later. Most classes are only half a day so you will still have plenty of time to free ski. I ski the Soldeu area and find it very sociable, on and off the slopes.
