Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Obergurgl - info and ski hire

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi all,

Just wondered if anyone had any discount codes for snowrental/skiset etc, been looking at 'platinum' ski hire in Obergurgl week commencing 3rd January, and its coming in at around €125 just for skis rolling eyes rolling eyes

Not paid that much before, ussually able to get 30-40% discount online, but for Obergurgl discount seems to be around the 15-10% mark.

Any ideas welcome, really looking forward to first trip to Obergurgl, been to many other resorts in Austria, but first time here - any tips would be most welcome, we are staying in a chalet close to the Festkogel gondola, pretty much ski in ski out, heard about the nederhutte - sounds like fun Laughing but any other ideas about best ski areas/other stuff would be great.

BTW conditions looks superb 80cm/182cm and light snow this week - Toofy Grin Toofy Grin Toofy Grin

Thanks Neil.

Not many 0nly found 2 and one was booked up for our week - 2nd jan. We are staying in Catered Chalet Christopherus in Obergurgl, try Ski Total/Ski Solutions.

Will obviously post a report on return.

You will be hard pressed to find any big discounts on ski hire (or anything else for that matter!) in obergurgl it is a bit of a closed shop with the scheiber family pulling most of the strings in the village. If you were traveling up by car and could be bothered by all the hassle you could get a better chance of a bigger discount on ski hire in Solden 10 miles down the road but I would bite the bullet and hire from scheibersport or Riml in the village, the prices may be high but like all in the village the quality is superb.

Re Chalets Ski Total have the Christopherus, we stayed there a couple of years ago, it was good. Ski in out, slightly out of the village centre but all in all a good choice.

Too late for the original poster, but if anyone else comes across this thread and is looking for cheap ski hire in Obergurgl, I have found that it is cheaper booking direct with the shops in Obergurgl, particularly if you have children. This year, they all seem to have decided that they will provide free equipment for children if two adults are booking. But you don't seem to get the same offer through all the agents, such as Snowbrainer, J2S, Holiday Extras. The cheapest of the three chains in OBGL seems to be Lohman.

We used Snowell and got free ski hire for our daughter. Our skis came from Lohman and were of excellent quality.

In that case, you can also look for the possibility to stay either a room with an oven so that you can cook for yourself, or to choose a hotel where you can have halfboard and also go to the restaurant whenever needed. http://www.hotel-obergurgl.at/en-hotel_tyrol-rooms_suites.shtml
