Poster: A snowHead
|
Needing to get back to England for 4 days and then back to France for Easter. I had planned to drive up to Geneva and leave the car in the long term car park and then drive back again. Then I realised I woud have to buy a Swiss vignette just for the one trip.
A private transfer then looked like a better deal ( I know I could have driven around in the French sector but thats fairly complex on the map).
I went with www.ski4funtransfers.co.uk I cannot recomend them highly enough!
Bang on time, new vehicles, journey times the same as I could drive - no dropping off/collecting on the way or weird shortcuts.
The drivers were very professional and knowledgeable, pointing out the sights on Annecy lake in the warm sunshine.
Altogether an enjoyable trip. If you need to arrange transfers give them a call, (they also offer snowHeads a discount).

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

Boredsurfing, to get to the airport without paying the vignette, follow signs into the town and then keep your eyes peeled for airport signs (this is my strategy, at any rate). Nobody has ever asked me about vignettes on the way out so I just scoot down the motorway in a thoroughly naughty fashion.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Lizzard, Normally I would have done that but I was on my own so probably would have got lost and missed the one flight to Bournemouth that day

Boredsurfing, admittedly I usually only do it when I'm picking someone up, not when I have a flight to catch.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Lizzard's technique works very well. You can also do it in reverse as I have seen them stop cars at Bardonnex. Leave the airport and drive down to the lake and follow the signs to Chamonix (from memory, I think) and you go through an unmanned crossing.

I've driven straight down the motorway, stopped at the border said I was going just to the airport, and didn't have to buy one...

But vignettes are only about £25, not a huge price in the scheme of things.

sev112, It's a pass to use the Swiss motorways, lasts 13 months (starting December or January I think). You can buy them online or if you haven't got one the swiss will catch you at the border and sell you one anyway.

redrunmarcus, The times I have hired from the Swiss side at Geneva the car has always had a vignette on the windscreen, the fact it has hire car registration plates is not enough it would seem.
